Best iPhone 17 Cases, Screen Protectors, and Accessories

Protect your expensive iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, or iPhone 17e with our favorite cases and screen protectors. We tested over 100 cases and accessories to find the very best. Updated July 2026: Added Ninja Labs Flex Pouch Phone Case and Mophie Check Case.

Best Case Overall

Native Union Active Case

Native Union’s Active case for the iPhone 17 models is fantastic. It features a dot pattern design, multiple colors, slightly grippier feel, softer microfiber inner lining, raised edges around display and cameras, snappy buttons, and a glass-covered Camera Control button. It covers the aluminum on Pro models to prevent scratches around the Camera Plateau. MagSafe works well, and it’s made from recycled materials including 100% recycled TPU bumper. Slim profile.

Mous Limitless Phone Case (Runner-Up)

Mous Limitless case offers various designs (wood back, speckled fabric). Marine version has soft fabric-like texture. Rigid TPU bumper, raised screen and camera protection, real Camera Control button (not cutout). Excellent MagSafe and snappy buttons. Flawless design.

Best Clear Case

dbrand Ghost Case 2.0

Dbrand promises no yellowing; if it does, money back. Clear back with thicker shock-absorbing edges, ribbed grip, textured clicky buttons, strong magnets. May show rainbow-like watermarking on Apple logo; Dbrand provides hotfix sticker (included for new customers) to resolve. No Ghost 2.0 for iPhone 17; recommend alternatives for that model.

Best Cheap Case

Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit Case

Spigen’s case with teardown skin is favorite. Clear case shows iPhone color. Good MagSafe, clicky buttons, raised edges. Camera Control covered (not cutout). $20 excellent value. Also available without custom designs for less.

Best Ultrathin Case

Pitaka Ultra-Slim Case

Thinnest case: 0.99 mm for iPhone Air, ~1.01 mm for others. Aramid fiber, Camera Control button cover (except iPhone Air has cutout). Cameras protected, edges barely extend past display (recommend screen protector). MagSafe works with magnets. Also tested version with thicker TPU bumper for more protection.

Best Screen Protector

dbrand Prism 2.0 Screen Protector

Two tempered glass protectors included. Easy pull-tab application tool. Goes close to edge, not sharp. Great feel and value.

Our Favorite Protective Case

Nomad Rugged Case

15-foot drop protection. Matte PET backplate hides smudges. Thick TPU bumper, glass Camera Control button, anodized aluminum buttons. MagSafe reliable. Available only for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

Best Kickstand Case

Zagg Sedona Snap Case With Kickstand

Kickstand works in landscape or portrait, sturdy, flush at bottom. Case has thick grippy bumper, raised edges, responsive buttons, actual Camera Control button. Available in colors on Amazon and Zagg site.

Best Leather Case

Bullstrap The Minimalist Case

Full-grain leather sourced from Europe and US. Stainless steel buttons, polycarbonate shell, glass Camera Control button. Also has Contemporary Case with bottom edge protection. MagSafe wallet available.

Best Leather Case for iPhone Air

Mujjo Leather Case

Fine-grain Danish calfskin Velore leather. More protection than most Air cases, exposed only Camera Control and bottom edge. Camera well-protected, raised display guard. Buttons a bit stiff. Also available for other models but Nomad’s leather preferred for those.

Best Cheap Screen Protector (With Privacy)

Smartish Tuff Sheet Screen Protector (Privacy and Standard)

Two-pack for ~$20. Excellent application tool, curved edges, easy installation. Privacy version blocks side views but not from front.

Best Crossbody Case

Bandolier Remi Crossbody Phone Case

All-in-one integrated solution. Magnetic card holder can dangle. Crossbody straps attach at bottom without disrupting charging port. Removable strap, adjustable length. Top-grain leather, responsive buttons, Camera Control cutout.

A Bumper for the iPhone Air

Apple iPhone Air Bumper

For those wanting minimal protection. Adds grip, responsive buttons including Camera Control, connection points for lanyard or accessories. Not best protection but gives peace of mind for $999 phone.

Swappable Buttons

Caudabe Sheath

Pebbled texture, not grippiest but not slippery. Camera covered for scratchgate protection. Aluminum buttons responsive. Swappable button colors (e.g., cobalt on Deep Blue iPhone 17 Pro). Also has frosted glass version.

The Grippiest Case

dbrand Grip Case

Microscopic ridges on edges for extreme grip. Capacitive-touch Camera Control button, textured clicky buttons, strong magnets. Customizable back skins (glow-in-the-dark). Pro models have bump for Camera Plateau; design may look awkward.

A Minimalist’s Dream Case

Arc Pulse Case

Bumper only, not full case. Aluminum bumpers slide over edges. Provides corner/edge protection but not scratch-free guarantee. No added width; edge-to-edge screen experience. Several finishes; color matching tool available.

Best Case for Mounting

Peak Design Everyday Case

Boring design but functional. SlimLink magnetic system for secure mounting on Peak Design mounts. MagSafe compatible. Great for bike/scooter mounts; never fallen out in two years.

Apple’s Official Cases

Apple TechWoven Case

Upgrade from FineWoven. 100% recycled polyester, rough fabric texture, grippy, raised edges, clicky buttons, connection points for straps. Not for tight pants as phone may poke out. Clear case for non-Pro models is okay but white shell on Pro models hides color.

Best Wallet Folio Case

Nomad Modern Leather Folio

Three card slots, cash sleeve, removable strap with magnetic closure. Horween leather, polycarbonate frame, one-handed use.

Best Privacy Screen Protector

Zagg 4-Way Privacy XTR Screen Protector

Four-way privacy, difficult to read at angles. Reduces screen brightness and adds slight fuzziness. Pull-tab installation. Good for privacy but compromises on brightness.

A Ceramic Screen Protector

BodyGuardz Apex Ceramic Glass

Ceramic glass, smooth and clear, soft edges like piano keys. Pull-tab installation, one protector included. Expensive but premium feel.

Best Glitter Case

Berfy Glitter Case

Stayed clear and scratch-free since October 2025. Survived oceans, lakes, pools, showers. Snap-on camera lenses (may fog in humidity). Clicky buttons, corner bumpers, cutout for Camera Control, lanyard area. MagSafe compatible.

Best Decoration Ecosystem

Hello Lux Phone Cases and Accessories

Feminine textures (baby-blue faux-crocodile, pink gingham, cable-knit). Clicky buttons, decent protection. Pair with crossbody straps, wristlets, charms. Affordable, mix-and-match. Sold exclusively at Target. Not ultimate protection but cute.

If You Want a Color Match

Ridge Phone Case

Combines TPU bumper and polycarbonate shell. 8-foot drop protection (not tested). Subtle rise for screen protection. Buttons clickable including camera button. Top left silent button gets stuck when sliding in case. MagSafe works. Orange case matches orange iPhone Pro Max.

Best iPhone Case With Storage

Ninja Labs Flex Pouch Phone Case

Pouch on back holds cards, AirPods, lip balm, key fob. Items stay put. Sacrifices phone grip. Also Octo Pouch (stick to surfaces) but not fully tested.

Your Old Case Won’t Fit—With One Exception

iPhone 17 dimensions different; old cases won’t fit (except iPhone 17e can reuse iPhone 16e cases). Donate or recycle. iPhone 17e has MagSafe; need compatible case.

What Is the Camera Plateau and Camera Control?

Camera Plateau: raised camera module on iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max. Camera Control: button below power button to open camera, take photo, long-press video, Visual Intelligence. Case makers may use cutout or glass button.

Make Sure You Buy a MagSafe Case

All recommended cases have MagSafe unless noted. MagSafe case has magnets inside. Explore MagSafe accessories.

What Size iPhone Do You Have?

  • iPhone 17: 6.3-inch screen
  • iPhone Air: 6.5-inch screen
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch screen
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch screen
  • iPhone 17e: 6.1-inch screen

Note: same screen size does not mean compatible cases.

What’s the Deal With Scratchgate?

iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max aluminum scratches easily, especially around Camera Plateau due to anodized layer adhesion. Cases that cover Camera Plateau (like Native Union Active Case) help.

How We Test Cases

We install every case, inspect cutouts, check button responsiveness, analyze raised edges, test MagSafe strength. We also pass cases to others for long-term feedback. For screen protectors, we install per instructions and note ease.

Other Screen Protectors We’ve Tested

  • Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit: Affordable two-pack, installation tool but no pull tab, more air bubbles, edges a tad sharp.
  • Caudabe Screen Protector: Close second to Dbrand, smooth feel, curvy edges, only one in box.
  • Belkin UltraGlass 2: Aluminosilicate by Corning, book-like application, few air bubbles, edges slightly sharp, one protector.
  • ESR Armorite Pro: Three-pack, pull-tab but harder to use than Dbrand/Smartish. Privacy version effective.
  • Astropad Fresh Coat: Anti-reflective coating, pull-tab, more air bubbles, cuts glare effectively, no loss in color accuracy.

Other Great Cases We’ve Tested

We’ve tested over 100 cases. Many are great; here are highlights:

  • Bitmoji Gamebaby: Nintendo Game Boy style case with capacitive buttons for emulator. D-pad alignment issue, plasticky, but fun.
  • Bitmoji Retro Macintosh: iPhone looks like old Mac, covers camera plateau, lanyard hole, only for Pro/Pro Max.
  • Pela Cases: Sustainable plant-based biopolymer from Canada, many designs, MagSafe option, but buttons stiff, edges not very raised.
  • OpenCase: Cutout on back for MagSafe accessories, reduces thickness. Leatherette, metal buttons, sapphire crystal Camera Control. Some accessories won’t fit.
  • Bellroy Cases: Venture (rugged but slippery), 3 Card (bulky, no MagSafe or wireless charging), Innovera (leather-alternative, nice texture). Not top picks.
  • Bluebonnet Cases: No-frills case with no branding, metal buttons, Camera Control. Wallet cases not recommended (block MagSafe, hard to remove cards).
  • Aohi Case: Claims 16-foot drop protection with P4U polymer, aluminum-alloy camera frame. Design fine, magnets strong.
  • Aulumu A17: Aramid fiber or frosted clear, cooling tech (passive fins, thermal gel), dropped temperature 1°C in gaming. Buttons rattly.
  • Society6 Cases: Many fun designs, dual-layer shield with silicone liner and hardshell. Not amazing build quality but prioritizes design.
  • Freitag Cases: Made from recycled ski boots, bright designs from truck tarps. No MagSafe, but designed with wallet that slides into place. Wireless charging not possible.
  • PopSockets Case: Standard case with fun designs (e.g., Mirror Abalone). Grippy edges, MagSafe, but Camera Control is cutout.
  • OhSnap! Case: Soft-touch plastic, slippery, rattly aluminum buttons, extra-strong magnets. Compatible with OhSnap! grip that allows wireless charging.
  • OtterBox Defender Series: Initially had overly responsive Camera Control; newer version fixed. Dual-layer, protective but wide. Note: Action Button flap on Defender is infuriating, requires two hands.
  • Nomad Leather Cases: Modern, Traditional, Rugged. All have glass Camera Control button, MagSafe. Modern favorite (Horween leather, polycarbonate frame). Traditional pure leather, Rugged with TPU bumpers.
  • Woolnut Leather Case: Full-grain Scandinavian leather, aluminum buttons, capacitive Camera Control. “WOOLNUT” branding on back may be off-putting.
  • Wave MagSafe Case: Biodegradable from wheat straw. MagSafe ring outline visible, mushy Action Button, Camera Control cutout, slippery. Contributes to environmental charities.
  • Casekoo Pearl Sparkle: Bulky, sparkly orange, clear back, built-in kickstand with MagSafe. Kickstand works in landscape and portrait.
  • Other Spigen Cases: Spigen Ultra Hybrid (shows dust), Spigen Liquid Air (stiff buttons).
  • Twelve South Cases: Boring, silicone attracts dust, buttons clicky, real Camera Control button.
  • Burga Cases: Elite (mushy buttons, cutout, slippery, MagSafe), Tough (responsive but sharp buttons, cheap glossy plastic). Many designs.
  • Totallee Cases: Protective, clear, ultra-thin. All have Camera Control cutout. Non-MagSafe versions available.
  • Native Union Active Case (already top pick) – also recycled materials but Camera Control cutout.
  • Alto Wood Case: Custom laser-carved prints, wood options (olive, cherry, etc.). Rubber bumper feels cheap, power button solid, volume rocker mushy.
  • Beats Kickstand Case: Avoid due to slipperiness. (Mentioned in avoid section).
  • BodyGuardz Pulse and Performance Pro: Pulse has vents for heat dispersion, directional speaker. Performance Pro has larger vents and kickstand but uncomfortable.
  • Burton Goods Heritage Leather Case: Full-grain leather, microfiber interior, MagSafe, responsive buttons, raised edges. Magnetic wallet with kickstand holds three cards but hard to remove.
  • Rhinoshield SolidX and Clear: SolidX robust, thick, clicky buttons, MagSafe. Clear very clicky buttons, sturdy. Both made from 100% recycled Mono material.
  • OtterBox Symmetry Series: Fun designs (embroidered cactus leather version). MagSafe but embroidery weakens magnetic connection. Overpriced at $60.
  • OtterBox Commuter: Simple dual-layer, rubber edges, covers USB-C port. Not exciting.
  • OtterBox Figura: Wraps like glove but slippery, decently protective, buttons hard to press.
  • Mous Super Thin: Aramid fiber, very thin, raised camera protection, Camera Control exposed. Good for wear and tear but not top protection.
  • Thinborne Aramid Fiber Case: Super thin, MagSafe, all buttons exposed, includes screen protector but no application tool.
  • Zagg Milan Snap: Clear case with kickstand, smudges easily. Other Zagg cases: Silicone (dust), Miami (iridescent), London (colorful bumper, cutout), Tokyo (texture, no kickstand), Denver (robust protection, mushy buttons).
  • ESR Kickstand Cases: Built-in kickstand around camera. Only landscape orientation. Zagg Sedona better.
  • Smartish Cases: Gripzilla (textured edges but less grippy than Dbrand), Gripmunk (ridges), Wallet Slayer (card slots, no MagSafe, thick). Solid for price.
  • Shifted Snap Cases: Not cases but magnetic backings for rear glass. No edge protection, not recommended over ultrathin cases.
  • UAG Pathfinder: Bold design, bright yellow, but expensive, all have Camera Control cutout. Also like UAG Monarch and Plasma.
  • Case-Mate Twinkle: Slim, stylish, integrated camera button, soft material (slippery), bumper protects Camera Plateau. Lightweight.

Check Out These Crossbody Straps and Lanyards

  • Apple Crossbody Strap: Pricey, many colors, 100% recycled PET yarn, adjustable up to 82 inches. Best with Apple’s case.
  • Orbitkey Strap: Uses card inside case, reinforced loop, solid for camping. Cheaper than Apple strap.
  • Satechi Lanyard: Thick cord, adjustable, includes two connector types, also functions as USB-C cable (480 Mbps, 60W charging).

A 45-Watt Charger

Anker Nano 45W With USB-C Cable: Fast charging (50% in 20 minutes with 40W adapter). Tested with iPhone 17 Pro: received 35W at low battery, went from 7 to 83% in 30 minutes. Includes 6-foot USB-C cable. Foldable prongs.

Avoid These Cases

  • Beats Kickstand Case: Adorable, creative kickstand via lanyard but only works in landscape. Polycarbonate extremely slippery.
  • Mujjo Wallet Cases: Sleeve barely fits one card, hard to remove, weak magnets, must remove cards for MagSafe. Counterintuitive.
  • Peak Design Everyday Case (new version): Textured edges not grippy, rubbery back picks up dust, flimsy port cover, adds height, slim lip around screen. Not recommended.
  • Spigen Kickstand Case: Flimsy kickstand, only landscape, design not appealing.
  • Smartish Wallet Slayer Vol. 2: Tight wallet sleeve, no actual kickstand (uses credit card as kickstand).
  • UAG Trooper: Very bulky, Camera Control cutout hard to press due to thickness, volume rocker and Action Button also hard.
  • OtterBox Defender with Action Button flap: Infuriating flap makes Action Button inaccessible with two hands.
